If you see Danny L Harle's name on the credits of Dua Lipa, Caroline Polachek, or Oklou, know that he's the designated "agent of chaos" in that company. The 36-year-old producer loves pop music like no other, but also knows exactly where to sharpen the genre. What he presents on Cerulean is the most complete example of this yet. The excessive chaos of his predecessor Harlecore is somewhat (a little) tamed down, but it's still a vast digital mishmash of until recently unconventional styles: trance, gabber, Europop à la 2001, etc. The voices that emerge help make things a bit more socially acceptable -- besides the aforementioned pop stars, Clairo and PinkPantheress also appear. It's a nostalgic Y2K party and a giant leap forward.
