Making a second album is hard enough, British music magazine NME observed, let alone if you've already released a film that granted you cult status and, more importantly, have been the subject of international controversy multiple times. Kneecap, always outspoken in their support for Palestine, was accused by the British government of supporting terrorist movements but was acquitted. That lawsuit resonates on Fenian. The Irish rap trio doesn't hold back (they rhyme 'Keir Starmer' with 'genocide armer'), sounds even more combative and clearly has different priorities than just having fun. But what also resonates is the energy that arises everywhere Kneecap is allowed to perform: plenty of bangers on Fenian, which was produced by Dan Carey (Wet Leg, Fontaines D.C.) and regularly brings to mind Massive Attack and The Prodigy.
