Freedom is the key to Pitou’s second album, which, of course, is titled P2. Classically trained, Pitou Nicolaes can already mesmerize when she 'just' sings, but from that foundation, she constantly seeks adventure. Acoustic reflection repeatedly gives way to an exuberant wall of sound. Thus, at one moment, she evokes artists like Feist, Laura Marling, or, when she explores the sharp edges of her voice, Adrianne Lenker, but you also hear that she has listened carefully to pop innovators like FKA twigs and AURORA.
