Freedom is the key to Pitou’s second album, naturally titled P2. Classically trained Pitou Nicolaes can already overwhelm when she 'just' sings, but from that foundation, she constantly seeks adventure. Acoustic reflection repeatedly gives way to an exuberant wall of sound. Thus, at one moment she might bring to mind artists like Feist, Laura Marling, or, when she explores the sharper edges of her voice, Adrianne Lenker, but you also hear that she has listened carefully to pop innovators like FKA twigs and AURORA. She can fit it all into one record. With a voice like that, you can do anything.
