On her first album in five years, In Times of Dragons, it's clear what Tori Amos is singing about. Now, Amos has never been too shy to sing about politics, but this is clearly a light-fantastic portrait of America under Trump. The fiercely anti-democratic tech billionaire Peter Thiel is quoted, there are references to the anti-ICE demonstrations in Minnesota, but in between, witches and Celtic gods also appear. It's a melancholic album, on which Amos's voice also sounds more fragile than ever, but no less powerful for it.
