Il aura fallu beaucoup de temps à Tom Smith pour oser sortir son premier album solo. Et même sur There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn’t There In The Light , on a l'impression que le chanteur de 44 ans des Editors est en pleine recherche. Ce n'est pas grave, d'ailleurs. Cela donne un côté brut qu'on ne retrouvera pas souvent avec son groupe habituel. Parfois on entend Springsteen, parfois une trompette, parfois juste Smith et sa guitare. Il trouve suffisamment de choses en chemin.
