Charli XCX also undoubtedly thought that there would be at least a short hiatus from BRAT and all its various incarnations. But when director Emerald Fennell asked her to record a few songs for her film adaptation of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights , the inspiration for yet another entire album quickly arose. Wuthering Heights that is, introduced by the voice of Velvet Underground founder John Cale and therefore completely different from BRAT from the very first beat. Because Charli is not just BRAT, as the fans know. A gothic era turned out not to be such a bad idea after all.
