'The Last Be-Bop Sessions' contains, as the title suggests, the last recordings of Django Reinhardt, just before he died at the age of 43. That is not old, and Reinhardt is also at the height of his powers. Where the origin is the gypsy guitar playing, jazz also seeps through on this swan song; just listen to 'Nuages', where the influences of Kenny Burrell can be heard. But the genius of the guitarist also lies in other influences; hot jazz, musette, the chanson. It all passes by on this very last work. Three weeks after the recordings of April 8, 1953, the Belgian died.
