Anyone looking for exciting, horizon-broadening jazz can always turn to International Anthem. The Chicago-based label is teeming with talent, such as Gregory Uhlmann - formerly a guitarist for Perfume Genius, among others, and now a composer in his own right. Or well, Extra Stars is also a group project. In Uhlmann's ambient-like soundscapes (reminiscent of Cluster & Eno, Terry Riley, and... Yo La Tengo), sax shaman Alabaster dePlume, among others, makes an appearance.
