Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young, two of Kurt Vile's biggest heroes, have both sung extensively about Philadelphia. But with all due respect, says Vile: they have no idea what the city is really like. On Philadelphia's Been Good to Me, the indie rocker adds his own two cents. He meanders and sways as usual -- his slow moves, as well as his languid, drawling voice, now well-known. But this is no mere repetition of old tricks: Vile is only getting better as a guitarist.
