How is it possible that this wondrous collaboration between the late dub legend Lee "Scratch" Perry and Berlin IDM duo Mouse On Mars lay dormant for so long? The three entered the studio together back in 2019, although the Germans likely did a lot of tinkering afterward. Perry’s delightful mumbling and groaning here swims in a rather experimental electro-acoustic landscape – with not only dub but also kraut and jazz influences. It often brings to mind the equally experimental, intergenerational collaboration between Gil Scott-Heron and Richard Russell.
